French Toasts/फ्रैंच टोस्ट

French Toasts
Having egg in breakfast provides much needed nutrition for the whole day. A good wholesome breakfast is a must for everybody especially school going children. It has been medically proved that those children who eat good wholesome nutritious breakfast are more attentive and alert in school. Mothers of growing children are at dilemma how to make children eat egg daily. Well try these French toasts they would never say no to egg. Egg paranthas is another variation of egg. They are good Indian fast food fit for breakfast, brunch etc. When ever my children used to say we will eat only one egg mom, I used to smile and say fine we have French toasts for breakfast today and beat two eggs instead of one for four triangular pieces made from two slices of bread, They never found out till they grew up and I told them how I used to feed them two egg for breakfast when they wanted only one!!!

Enjoy hot french toasts with milk / tea / coffee or hot chocolate

Tips:
  • Always cook on low flame else egg in the toasts will get burnt leaving unpleasant smell and taste.
  • Honey will caramelize so the color will be always beautiful reddish brown.
  • If you are not using non-stick pan then greasing the pan with butter is a must.
  • Do not try to turn over till cooked to brown color on one side else the toast will break. To check just lift it from one side and check.
  • Use broad sharp edged spatula for easy turning over the toast.
  • Press the toasts when cooked yet on the pan to check if any uncooked egg is left in it. If so cook for a min or so more.
Suggested Variations:
  • Slices can be cut to rectangular two or four pieces.
  • One teaspoon corn flour/Rice flour/Black gram flour (Besan) can be added to the eggs mixture.
  • Basil/parsley/celery can be added to enhance the flavor.
  • I love to add finely cut onion (One teaspoon)/Spring onion(One teaspoon) to the egg mixture.
  • Finely cut green chilies, coriander leaves along with onions give the French toasts wonderful tasty typical Indian flavor. I love my this version of French toasts.
